Community Involvement

At Kenton & Cathedral Animal Hospital], we believe that caring for animals goes hand in hand with supporting the community that loves them. We’re proud to support the Black United Fund, Paw Team, and the Native American Youth and Family Center through charitable donations. Whether we’re hosting pet spay & neuter clinics or participating in community fundraisers, we’re dedicated to making a positive impact—one paw at a time.

Black United Fund of Oregon

The mission of the Black United Fund of Oregon (BUF-OR) is to assist in the social and economic development of Oregon’s underserved communities and to contribute to a broader understanding of ethnic and culturally diverse groups.

In 1983, a group of community activists came together to preserve this history and to improve life for communities of color across Oregon. Noticing that many philanthropic organizations were providing minimal support to Black and other BIPOC organizations, BUF-OR began to channel charitable funds to underserved communities. Later, this support extended to scholarships for youth and programming focused on education and economic opportunities for communities of color.

Portland Animal Welfare Team

The Portland Animal Welfare Team is a grassroots, volunteer-powered nonprofit that provides vital veterinary services for over 1,000 Portland-area families per year, aiding individuals living on the streets, in transitional shelters or government housing, as well as those facing temporary financial hardship that restricts their access to medical care for their pets.

PAW Team provides veterinary care through a robust medical program including essential wellness, vaccinations, parasite prevention, medication, management of some chronic conditions, food, pet supplies, and so much more. We have no veterinarians on staff and rely on the generous time and energy of a network of volunteers to help power our clinics.
